“It’s not a poem, even though we dream of many things” is the title of the new exhibition curated by Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol, a collective of artists working in the performing arts, book creation, radio, and video—as well as educational initiatives—which is on view at Galerie Nordenhake Mexico and opened as part of GAMA Week.
This exhibition emphasizes art’s capacity to change and transform itself, to create the world as it evolves while simultaneously responding to reality. The curatorial focus is not presented as an idea but as a dynamic that champions art and reacts to become a driving force for ethical, political, and aesthetic transformation, where movement is a way of refusing to give in to fear or accept a paralyzed world.
Different Worldviews
The space for this exhibition is shaped by the interplay between *Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol* and the gallery’s physical space, as well as the work of various artists. The aim is to create an atmosphere that not only serves as a common thread linking the pieces on display but also evokes the evolution of the set and lighting designs in the productions Lagartijas has staged—designs that have shaped the group’s artistic language— and in this way, to translate the movement of the stage into the gallery space through materials and elements such as plants, paper, wood, bricks, water, fans, lamps, and fish. This installation is, at the same time, a reminder of the passage of time and a way to honor all the people who have been part of these works and the shared creative processes.
The curators brought together 22 works—including existing pieces and new commissions—by artists and collaborators from around the world. The exhibition features works by Abril Ramos Xochiteotzin, Bagus Pandega, Dayanita Singh, Eduardo Pizarro, Isabel Yáñez, Jo Ratcliffe, Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol, Luisa Pardo, Lázaro Gabino Rodríguez, Mario García Torres, Matthew Krishanu, Miroslaw Balka, Nereyda López, Nicolás Pereda, Olga de Amaral, Pedro Pizarro, and Soumya Sankar Bose.
“This is Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol’s first exhibition at Nordenhake. We believe Lagartijas’s work is incredible, robust, and extremely elaborate. As a gallery, we were interested in trying to view a space that is generally very white and very pristine with fresh eyes; There are unimaginable things here that only Lagartijas—with its background in the performing arts—could bring to life, since they have a different way of inhabiting the space,” said Diego Aramburu, a member of Galerie Nordenhake Mexico.

The exhibition opened as part of GAMA Week on September 3 and will be open to the public through October 24, 2026, at Galerie Nordenhake México, located at Monterrey 65, Roma Norte, Mexico City. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Who are Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol?
Since 2003, the collective has developed projects as a way to connect work and life, blurring and redefining the boundaries between them. Their work seeks to create narratives based on real events, moving away from entertainment to offer a space where people can think, articulate, transform, and unravel what everyday life overlooks or takes for granted.
They have presented their work in nearly every state in Mexico and have performed at festivals, independent venues, state theaters, and universities. Abroad, they have performed at renowned venues such as the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, Spain; FIBA in Buenos Aires, Argentina; the Theater Biennial in Brazil; and RADAR in Los Angeles, California, USA, among many others.
Since 2023, his work has been part of the Hemispheric Institute’s digital video library in New York.
Over the course of four days, GAMA Week once again brought together a scene made up of galleries with diverse profiles, artists, and audiences.
