Mexico will be the featured country at the Paraíso Latin American Art Fair, a new fair that will bring together works by Latin American artists from different generations in London. The inaugural edition will include previously unseen works by Felipe Ehrenberg and two video pieces by Mexican video art pioneer Pola Weiss. Each edition will be dedicated to a different country.

Paraíso: Without a doubt, this is a name that is as promising as it is evocative for an art fair, especially considering that every region claims to be paradise on Earth. The event adds to the growing international interest in Ibero-American art.

The fair will bring together 22 international galleries and projects dedicated to promoting art. Notable participants include Aninat Art Projects, from Chile, and Cecilia Brunson, a Chilean gallery based in London. Works by Venezuelan artist Lucía Pizzani and by emerging and mid-career artists from across Latin America will be on display.

Paradisiacal Video Art

Video art and publications will also have a place at Paraíso. Juan Canela, artistic director of ZⓈONAMACO in Mexico City and associate curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Panama, will curate a selection of contemporary Central American video art. The program will also feature works by 12 independent artists and a section dedicated to publications, with 21 independent publishers participating.

The talks will feature Lotte Johnson, Rosa Tyhurst, Alberto Ríos de la Rosa, Lucía Sanromán, Hall Rockefeller, and Sacha Craddock, among other guests. There will also be live performances and an opening party. Carlos Amorales, for his part, will present an installation created specifically for the fair’s VIP area.
