Just as music lovers need Spotify or any other platform that puts music at their fingertips, so too do art lovers, curators, gallery owners, collectors, or simply those who enjoy visiting museums and galleries and practice the time-honored craft of artistic voyeurism—they know that art apps are often a great and indispensable tool for enhancing their experiences.
At AW Magazine, we recommend five items you can get with just one click
Artmo: “Whether art is your passion or your profession, you’ve come to the right place.”
This app welcomes you with that phrase; it also serves as an online marketplace for artworks in various formats. One of the strengths of this platform is that it allows artists to sell their art directly and helps collectors find innovative and sought-after pieces, particularly in the fields of emerging and avant-garde art. In addition, Artmo lets you find out about physical exhibitions and fairs around the world and connect with like-minded people through the app. In other words, it’s like Facebook but without memes or fake news—what more could you ask for? Another major feature is that it combines the physical art market with the Web3 universe and NFTs. It’s available for free download on any smartphone platform.
Rating: 9 (it doesn’t quite make it to 10 because its interface needs to be a little more intuitive).
Smartify: a Shazam for art
Every shopper or art lover has this app on their phone, which bills itself as the best cultural travel app. Smartify pinpoints nearby art venues, historic sites, museums, and more, and also provides audio guides that make you feel like you have a virtual tour guide.
In addition Smartify lets you know which artwork you’re looking at in the gallery, or even scan a piece from a collection using AI to identify the artist. They call it a “Shazam for art”—like the famous app that tells you what song is playing—but it also offers important information about the museums in its network and audio guides that enrich your journey through the art world. It’s available for free.
Rating: 9.5. It doesn’t get a 10 because it doesn’t recognize very new works or those by emerging authors, since they aren’t in its database.
Artland: “We all deserve to be moved by art, ”
The phrase in the title is the motto of Artland, an app that offers 3D virtual tours of art exhibitions around the world. This platform—somewhat similar to Artmo but with different features—also connects art galleries with experienced collectors and new art buyers globally. Its social marketplace features allow users to virtually visit distant exhibitions and purchase certified artwork, as the platform typically offers works by artists represented by physical galleries. Additionally, the app uses augmented reality tools to let users view certain works of interest. The app is available and free for any operating system.
Rating: 8.5 Very good, but limited for Latin American collectors and buyers. However, when it comes to European or American art, it scores a 10 because it’s like Facebook without memes or “comedians.”
Vote for Art: To discover artists or charlatans
The most fun one on the list. This app lets you become a virtual art curator and judge. It’s perfect for discovering new artists and evaluating emerging works, with insights from expert users. This 100% free app is connected to the “Artist OR Pretender” website, which specializes in evaluating and showcasing the art of new talents through various virtual art galleries. The verdict can be harsh: either artist or pretender. The question is, if an app like this had evaluated, say, Dalí, Joan Miró, or the material paintings of Antoni Tàpies, what would it have thought? Interesting for discovering new talent and for training the collector’s eye. It’s free and works on any operating system.

ITGallery: A curated collection, right in your pocket
“Turn your collection into a living, always-accessible gallery.” That’s what ITGallery, an app designed to organize, catalog, and manage works of art professionally. The platform allows you to create detailed records, store images, and keep your entire inventory in one place. One of its biggest draws is that it also functions as a showcase, allowing you to display your collection as a virtual gallery. Additionally, it features an Artistic CRM, which contains a database of clients, collectors, and suppliers and allows you to create Private Rooms to professionally share works with potential clients or to make purchases securely. In short, it’s like carrying your curated collection in your pocket. Available on the web and mobile devices (free of charge).
