The curatorial team behind JUSTFAIRS— a platform with nearly two decades of experience in organizing art fairs and cultural projects in Europe and the Americas—is building yet another bridge between the two continents with the launch of JUSTQRO. This new contemporary art fair adds to the momentum Mexico and Latin America are currently experiencing in terms of their artistic presence on the world stage.

The mission: to connect galleries, artists, collectors, and institutions through a curatorial model that is specialized and tailored to the city, fostering the discovery, commercialization, and international visibility of art.
The Rise of Contemporary and Modern Art in Querétaro
There’s a reason Querétaro was chosen: in recent years, the city has strengthened its cultural infrastructure with a network of museums, galleries, and spaces dedicated to modern and contemporary art.
Institutions such as the Querétaro Art Museum, the Querétaro Museum of Contemporary Art (MACQ), the City Museum, the Libertad Gallery, and the Rosario Sánchez de Lozada Municipal Gallery coexist alongside various cultural venues. Many of these are located in the Historic Center, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ecosystem has helped foster an increasingly vibrant arts scene.
“JUSTQRO was created to celebrate the exciting times Querétaro is experiencing and to help solidify its position as a city open to culture, innovation, and international talent,” said Óscar García García, director of JUSTFAIRS.
Just announced, the fair is joining Art Week Querétaro as its main professional and commercial platform. Bringing together galleries, artists, collectors, institutions, and companies for a week dedicated to culture and creativity in the region is part of the goal.
“We want to create a trade show that is connected to the city and its business, creative, and cultural communities,” adds Óscar García García.

JUSTQRO, a gathering place
The first edition of JUSTQRO “was created with the goal of becoming not only the leading professional gathering for Art Week Querétaro, but also one of the country’s leading cultural events,” according to the event’s official press release. The fair will be part of an initiative that will transform the city for a week into a vast cultural ecosystem where art, design, architecture, gastronomy, innovation, and cultural tourism will converge.
Museums, galleries, cultural centers, universities, hotels, restaurants, and urban spaces will develop a joint program to position Querétaro as one of the most dynamic cultural destinations in Latin America.
In recent years, Óscar García García has driven the project’s growth and international reach, while also fostering connections between galleries, artists, and collectors. His experience in building professional networks and opening up new cultural markets has been instrumental in bringing the event to Mexico through an initiative designed to strengthen ties between Europe and Latin America.
The team behind JUSTQRO
To develop JUSTQRO, the organization also has a team based in Mexico, led by Alejandro Chávez, director of Art Week Querétaro, who is overseeing the local implementation of the project and strengthening strategic ties with institutions, companies, collectors, and other stakeholders in the cultural sector.

This structure combines the international experience and accumulated knowledge of the parent event with a deep understanding of the Mexican context and how Querétaro’s cultural ecosystem works.
Without a doubt, JUSTQRO is emerging as a major venue for professional and commercial art networking in Querétaro, bringing together galleries, artists, collectors, institutions, and companies with the aim of fostering exchange, visibility, and new business opportunities.
In addition, Laura Darriba will serve as artistic director of this first edition, alongside Óscar García García. Darriba’s background in curation and cultural management “will provide specialized insight to consolidate an artistic program with international reach and reinforce the fair’s distinctive identity within the Ibero-American art scene,” the organizers stated in a press release.
This is JUSTQRO’s curatorial model
The fair will adopt a distinctive curatorial model based on Solo Shows and Duo Projects—formats that allow for a deeper exploration of the artists’ work and offer more meaningful experiences for both collectors and art professionals.
In addition to the exhibition, JUSTQRO will offer a comprehensive program of experiences, including meetings with artists, private tours, a VIP program for collectors, networking events, special activations, and activities related to design, innovation, and creativity.
